Creme Brûlée Heart Donuts

Creating Creme Brûlée Heart Donuts involves combining the classic flavors of creme brûlée with a heart-shaped donut form. Here's a basic recipe to guide you:

Ingredients:

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Creme Brûlée Topping:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for custard)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Donuts:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a heart-shaped donut pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the heart-shaped donut molds, filling each about 2/3 full.

  6. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.

  7. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Creme Brûlée Topping:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined.

  3. Slowly pour the warm cream into the egg yolk mixture, whisking continuously to avoid scrambling the eggs.

  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  6. Allow the custard to cool slightly before spreading it over the cooled heart-shaped donuts.

  7. Sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar over the custard layer.

  8. Using a culinary torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy, golden top.

  9. Let the caramelized sugar set before serving.

Enjoy your Creme Brûlée Heart Donuts! Remember to adjust quantities and timings based on your specific donut pan and oven.
